Visit To An Under-Construction DDA Site

The Department of Civil Engineering had organized a one-day visit to A-14, Kalkaji Extension where about 3500 flats are under construction under the supervision of Delhi Development Authority. These flats are meant for the rehabilitation of the poor and below poverty line people living in the nearby areas. A group of 40 students from B.Tech, CE (5th Semester and 3rd semester) visited the site.

All the students were first given safety induction which is a must for keeping the manpower safe from any sort of mishappenings at the site. The group was led to the cabin where the plan of the project was shown and explained by the engineer present at the site. Students got a first-hand experience of what they have learned in the classrooms. They were taken to all the 14 floors of the tower and were able to see the construction activities like frame work placing, reinforcement laying, concreting, plastering, painting etc.
