The 14th Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge cup commences

Twenty five corporate teams from Delhi-NCR are participating in the 14th edition of the Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge Cup 2021. The tournament was inaugurated today by the Chief Guest- Sh. Sanjay Joon, IAS, Commissioner Faridabad Division in the presence of Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI); Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI; Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI; Mr. Sarkar Talwar, Director, Sports, MREI; representatives of the 25 corporate teams and senior luminaries from MREI.

The first match of the tournament was played between TCS and ACE. ACE won the toss and elected to field first. TCS won the match by scoring 296 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs. Mr. Nitin from TCS who played a key role in the victory of his team was declared the ‘Man of the Match’ for scoring 113 runs of 49 balls.  The team of ACE scored 197 runs for 10 wickets in 17.3 overs.

While inaugurating the tournament, Sh. Sanjay Joon congratulated the participating teams and shared the importance of playing sports in the long-run.

Dr. Amit Bhalla shared, “The entire sports infrastructure at Manav Rachna has our heart in it. We have been working to take the dream of our Founder Visionary to newer heights through this 14 year-old tradition of Corporate Cricket Challenge Cup.” Wishing luck to the players of participating teams, he added, “Sports is all about being together and playing a healthy game.”

The Cup, instituted in the memory of Founder Visionary Dr O P Bhalla follows the belief that sports inculcate life-long skills, camaraderie and bonding among players.

25 leading Corporates from Delhi-NCR including Maruti Suzuki (Gurugram); Hero Motocorp (Gurugram); JCB (Faridabad); Escorts Construction (Faridabad); Aakash Darshan (Delhi); ACE (Faridabad); Honda Cars (Greater Noida); Aaj Tak (Delhi); Asian Hospital (Faridabad); Sarvodaya Hospital (Faridabad), NHPC (Faridabad); Honda Motorcycles (Gurugram); National Highways Authority of India (Delhi); IIFL-Wealth (Delhi); Adidas (Gurugram); DD News (Delhi); Metafab (Faridabad); Tata Consultancy Services; IRCON International; Press Club of India; HPCL; Glen India; Wave Infratech; Architect Sports Trust and Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (Faridabad) are participating in the Cup, this year.

The second match of the first day is being played between IIFL-Wealth (Delhi) and Asian Hospital (Faridabad).

51 matches will be played in the 14th Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge Cup 2021. The teams have been divided into 6 groups (with four-five teams in each group). During the first phase, league matches shall be played. These will be followed by knock-out matches. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout matches. The final match of the tournament will be played on March 27, 2021.
