Symposium on ‘Probiotics in Practice’

Symposium on “Probiotics in Practice” held at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi recently was attended by students of B.Sc Nutrition and Dietetics (V Sem), MRIU. |

The objective behind attending the symposium was to provide students an insight of the practical applications of what they are learning in theory as theoretical knowledge is not enough for making a good professional career.
While eminent speakers inspired the students by sharing insights and experiences which will help students in their counseling sessions and make improvement in the lives of patients. It also provides students a good opportunity to gain awareness about recent trends and practices.

Inaugural address was delivered by Prof. Rakesh Tandon, (Director, Gastrointestinal Sciences, Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute, and New Delhi). It is normally not necessary to supplement with probiotics to stay healthy. Most of us have enough of the friendly bacteria to do fine.

Various scientific sessions on effects of probiotics in different disorders were delivered by eminent speakers such as Dr. Ajay Bhalla, Dr.Sarath Gopalan, Mrs.Anita Jatana and Dr. Puneet Gupta to name a few. During scientific session, students interacted with the speakers which showed their inquisitiveness related to their knowledge.
The most interesting part of the symposium was the quiz conducted by Ms. Bhawna Gandhi, EC member IDA, Delhi Chapter and Ms.Binu Bhatia, Joint Secretary, IDA, Delhi Chapter.
