Smart India Hackathon 2017

Smart India Hackathon 2017 is an initiative by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, envisaging Digital India to bridge the digital divide in our country and further promote digital literacy in order to make development a comprehensive mass movement and put governance within everyone’s reach in India.

As a part of this initiative, AICTE organized live broadcast/interactive session on 18th January, 2017. Students of B.Tech CSE, B.Tech ECE and faculty members of Manav Rachna University attended the session. Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Union Minister for HRD, welcomed the session of interaction with those who were present in person and on live broadcast. Shri Prakash Javadekar discussed the unique initiative to identify new and disruptive digital technology innovations for solving the challenges faced by our country in the areas of Power, Education, Health, Urban & Rural Development, Aviation & Shipping Transport, Sports, law & Justice, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Tourism, etc.

Smart India Hackathon 2017 will be a computer programming competition which will involve engineering colleges with a reach to approximately 30 Lakh students from across India. The plan is to challenge the students to think out-of-the-box and offer innovative ideas to build smart applications which will help address major real time problems of our country. This initiative aims to institutionalize a model for harnessing the creativity and technical expertise of 3.0 + million students for the direct benefit of our nation.
