SkillEd India and B&WSSC jointly launch a Digital Learning Portal on LMS Platform for skilling the Beauty & Wellness Sector
Carrying forward the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister and our Hon’ble Union Minister for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, the relevance of skilling for creating a future-ready resource pool, is even more relevant today, when India is well on its way to becoming a global economic powerhouse. India, being a nation where majority of population is under 25 years of age, is getting ready to reap the benefits of demographic dividend. As an important step in this direction, SkillEd India (JV of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions and Kunskapsskolan Education) and the Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC) today launched a Digital Learning Portal on LMS Platform for the Beauty and Wellness sector.
The portal was formally inaugurated in an online ceremony by Dr. Manish Kumar, MD & CEO of National Skill Development Council (NSDC) in the presence of Mrs. Vandana Luthra, Chairperson, Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC) and Founder, VLCC Healthcare Ltd.; Mr. Peje Emilsson, Executive Chairman, Kunskapsskolan Education, Sweden; Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI); Mrs. Cecilia Carnefeldt, CEO and President – Kunskapsskolan Education, Mr. Anders Bauer, Group Executive VP, Kunskapsskolan Education; Dr. Amit Bhalla, VP, MREI; Ms. Monica Bahl, CEO, B& WSSC and Mr. Rajiv Mathur, CEO of SkillEd India.
Each course, under this Digital Learning Platform has on an average more than 800 live videos/ animations, slide shows with audios, Interactive webpage and PDF’s to enhance the learning and to practically demonstrate various beauty methods or procedures. All courses are available in Hindi and English. Trainees can choose one of the preferred languages for their learning at the start of the program.
As per recent research studies, the Beauty & Wellness sector specifically, is expected to be the highest job creator by 2022. And this trend is leading to even conventional graduates shifting their focus to skill-based, industry-oriented learning. Going forward, the need of global workforce primarily will be skill based, which makes formal training in vocational streams so significant and critical.
While sharing details of the LMS platform launched, Dr. Prashant Bhalla said: “The courses for Schools from 9th to 12th are NSQF compliant and have been created in consultation with the Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council, NSDC and PSSCIVE Bhopal. With hundreds of animated and live shoot videos embedded in the school course, it gives a thorough training on concepts and practical demonstrations. These online courses prepare students, for taking up job as Assistant Beauty Therapist or Beauty Therapist either as an entrepreneur or in a nearby salon. In addition, it will prepare the student for passing their final board examination successfully, for this vocational subject. We are thankful to the B&WSSC for supporting us and certifying the courses offered under the portal”.
For accessing the online courses for the Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council, the access will be via Sector Skill Council website, http://www.bwssc.in/ which will lead to a seamless entry onto the landing page of KEDSKILLS portal for registration with phone and email authentication, course selection, doing course fee payments via payment gateway and finally getting the automated login-id and passwords via email.

One unique feature of the online digital vocational content is that its digital content has been designed, developed and crafted using the KED Learning Methodology framework from Kunskapsskolan Education – Sweden. Further elaborating on the collaboration, Mr. Peje Emilsson said: “I am hopeful that this association will not only help millions of Indian Girls to take up the profession of Assistant Beauty Therapists, Beauty Therapists or work as an Entrepreneur. The online vocational content developed for piloting in Haryana Schools will now be made available to all schools in the country under this initiative”.
SkillEd India has also signed a MoU with the Retail Sector, and will be shortly doing so with Apparel and Healthcare. For Healthcare sector, the Swedish Company Global Health Care College, in association with KEDMAN will be bringing out world-class online courses aimed to better train the Paramedics fraternity in the India and Middle East and create online awareness programs for Doctors, Nurses, Medical Students, Paramedics and Hospital Administration focused on COVID care and Hospital Acquired Infections.
Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council- is not for profit organization promoted by CII, with financial support from the National Skill Development Corporation, under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The aim of the sector skill council is to focus on establishing an effective and efficient ecosystem for developing and imparting skills in the Beauty and Wellness Industry, through relevant content & curriculum, courses, information database, delivery systems and standardization of the accreditation and certification process, to enhance the employability of the Indian workforce globally.
