Solid waste management project at Rakhigarhi, Hisar was handed over to villagers on December 29, 2019. This was a mega project wherein the entire process from collection to segregation to treatment and disposal was established and implemented by Manav Rachna Educational Institutions.
Rakhigarhi, is a village in Hisar District in the state of Haryana and is the site of a pre-Indus Valley Civilization settlement going back to about 6500 BCE. Later, it was also part of the mature Indus Valley Civilisation, dating to 2600-1900 BCE.
The SWM project was designed after an entire survey of the village so that their needs and problems could be understood. Dustbins were also deployed all over the village as per their suggestion and consent. A Bio-composter has been placed to treat wet waste and produce manure for their fields.
The project was funded by ITRDH, Delhi whose patron is Shri SK Misra ji, a renowned name in the field of Haryana Tourism.
