Press Release: Manav Rachna organizes National Nutrition Week 2018

Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Applied Science, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) is celebrating National Nutrition Week at campus.

The National Nutrition Week (NNW) is an annual nutrition event initiated by Food and Nutrition Board, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. The main objective to celebrate nutrition week is to raise awareness on the importance of nutrition for health which has an impact on development, productivity, economic growth and ultimately National Development.

The theme for this National Nutrition Week 2018 is “ENSURING FOCUS INTERVENTION ON ADDRESSING UNDER NUTRITION DURING THE FIRST THOUSAND DAYS OF THE CHILD: BETTER CHILD HEALTH”.

4th September 2018-Healthy Recipe Competition and Workshop on Hasta Mudras for Wellness

A Healthy Recipe Competition was conducted on 4th September 2018. The theme of the competition was “COOKING WITHOUT FIRE”. The response was encouraging as a total of 40 students of various colleges- K.L Mehta Dayanand College, MRIIRS, Institute of Hotel Management, PUSA, Raj Guru College participated in the event very enthusiastically.

By keeping today’s competition theme in mind various handy and delicious recipes were prepared by using the concept of cooking without fire and different ingredients like, flex seeds, oats, semolina, lentils, fruits and vegetables etc. The winning recipe was Ravioli El Fruta from IHM Pusa. The 1st runner up was from Rajguru College who prepared Bread Dahivada as nutritious entry. The 2nd runner up was from MRIIRS, and the recipient prepared Fig & Dated Laddoo. One prize for commendable efforts was given, o to a participant from K.L. Mehta Dayanand College. The prizes were distributed by the judges and Head of Department of Nutrition and Dietetics to the winners. Merit certificates were given to all entries.

The recipes were delectable and the judges had tough time to zero in on the winners.

Workshop on Hasta Mudras for Wellness

Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Applied Science, MRIIRS organized a Workshop on “Proactive and Remedial Health Management through HASTA MUDRA, YOGA and PRANAYAMA” by Mr. D.C Chaudhry, Advisor, Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation and Faridabad Navchetna Trust.

He started his talk by HASTA MUDRAS THERAPY – FIVE FINGER CONCEPT.
