- 5 schools identified, one each in Faridabad, Gurugram, Bahadurgarh, Mahendragarh and Panchkula with investment in infrastructure, civil work, IT equipment.
A ‘Model Lab’ was inaugurated at the Government Girls Senior Secondary School (GGSSN) in NIT Faridabad today. The objective of the lab is to implement innovative tools which will add value to the current mode of training of Vocational Education subjects in the State Government run Schools in India adapting KED Program methodologies. The lab was inaugurated by Dr. G. Anupama, Commissioner Faridabad in the presence of Mr. Manish Kumar, CEO (NSDC); Mr. Peje Emilsson-Executive Chairman of Kunskapsskolan Education; Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI; Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI; Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, Managing Director, MREI and the KEDMAN team.
It is noteworthy that a pilot project across 100 schools in Haryana is being implemented by NSDC & KEDMan SkillEd India Ltd. (a joint venture between Kunskapsskolan Education Sweden AB and Manav Rachna Educational Institutions).
Appreciating Manav Rachna on behalf of the State Government for its social responsiveness; Dr G Anupama said: “This Lab will not just equip the students with job-ready skills, but will also add to their confidence, self-respect and the conviction to achieve the skies.”
Dr. Peje Emilsson shared “I see that the state of Haryana has a lot of potential, as do many other states of India. In that interest, we are looking at taking Skilling and Vocational Education to the next level in the best possible way”.
KEDMan is developing digitised content for six job roles across Retail, Beauty & Wellness and IT/ITeS sectors for classes 9 to 12. This will provide the industry with a wide pool of skilled resources.
While sharing the progress of the project so far, Mr. Manish Kumar informed: “Around 170 teachers from the 100 schools serving approximately 5,000 students have been trained in March 2018. A second round of refresher training has also been done. These were interactive, collaborative and self-reflective workshops that provided teachers hands-on experience through case studies, group discussions, role plays and experiential approach. The training material was made available to teachers on the SkillEd Portal for future reference.
Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI informed that sophisticated labs are being created in 5 identified schools one each in Faridabad, Gurgaon, Bahadurgarh, Mahendargarh and Panchkula with investment in infrastructure, civil work, IT equipment by KEDMAN to ensure students get the best outcome from the programme.
