NSDC and Business Sweden sign MoU for promoting collaboration in Vocational Education & Training

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Business Sweden (Swedish Trade & Investment Council) have signed an overarching MoU to augment the creation of skilled workforce in line with the requirements of Swedish corporations operating in India intending to establish manufacturing in India. Under the agreement, Swedish companies who are committed to ‘Make in India’ may collaborate with relevant stakeholders. Business Sweden is a network of 150 member organizations including the SAAB Group, Ericsson, Kenya Grange Vehicle Industries Ltd. (Scania), Volvo Group, ASSA Abloy, Ikea, Save the Children and Tetra Pak, Eastern Africa to name a few.

NSDC and Business Sweden signed a MoU for promoting vocational education and training under the above umbrella MoU.  A delegation comprising Mr. Manish Kumar CEO & MD, NSDC along with Mr. Rajiv Mathur, Head-Standards & Quality Assurance, NSDC; Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI and Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI visited SAAB, Sweden on August 17.  SAAB is the world’s leading manufacturer for Defence solutions and is a trusted supplier to the Indian Armed Forces for over three decades.

This MoU shall be valid for a period of five years and shall focus on setting up Skill Academies of Excellence in the hub. These skill academies will work in close coordination with the corresponding SSCs and function as their delivery arm to create a pool of trainers and assessors through Master Trainers and Assessors from Industry. MREI and KED will act as the training implementation partner across India and will be responsible for end-to-end training operations.

Dr. Prashant Bhalla informed that MREI and KED will also work closely with NSDC and business Sweden to customize the curriculum and content as per Indian requirements, facilitate in setting up the skill centers and shall also be responsible for training delivery benchmarked to international standards through the latest training aids.

Taking skilling to the next level in school education; NSDC, MREI and KED will together work with schools across the country. A pilot project will soon be launched in the State of Haryana.
