National Webinar on “Career Opportunities In Sports and Fitness Education – A Futuristic Perspective” by FAHS & FoS, MRIIRS

Faculty of Sports and Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, MRIIRS in association with SPEFL-SC organized a one-day National Webinar on “Career Opportunities In Sports and Fitness Education – A Futuristic Perspective” recently. The welcome address was given by Prof. Moattar Raza Rizvi, Dean, FAHS, Prefatory remarks by Prof. (Dr) G.L. Khanna Pro-VC, MRIIRS and address by Prof. Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI. Dr. Piyush Jain Secretary, PEFI made their gracious presence as the guest of honour.

Dr. Piyush Jain from PEFI shared insights about physical activity, physical education and physical fitness. Mr. Tahsin (SPEFL-SC) provided great knowledge and understanding about the sports market demand, potential career opportunities in sports, job roles in various sports sectors in India and abroad. Guest Speakers Mr. Bhupender Dhawan, Dronacharya Awardee spoke about the importance of sports science education for a promising career in fitness and sports. Prof. R. Subramanian, Registrar, NSU shared insights on the current scenario of health and fitness due to COVID-19 and futuristic trends in the fitness industry especially technology-centered solutions. Dr. Benu Gupta, University of Delhi, spoke on education perspective on sports science, different subjects offered by Delhi University at Bachelors and Masters Level to provide a holistic understanding of sports and fitness.

Dr. I.P Nagi, Incharge – Academics, NSNIS, Patiala for providing the details about various courses offered at NSNIS, Patiala. Mr Ajay Kumar Bansal, Dronacharya Awardee spoke on the crucial role of sports science in athletic training, sports coaching and physical fitness. Dr. Jatin Soni, Director of Physical Education and Sports, Saurashtra University, Rajkot shared his talk on the scope for entrepreneurship, opportunities in the sports sector and also on visual coaching programs. Dr. Lakhvinder Kaur, Associate Professor, MRIIRS highlighted the benefits of a career in sports and shared details about the course B.Sc (Fitness and Athletic Conditioning) offered at MRIIRS in association with SPEFL-SC.

The webinar was attended by more than 400 participants across India representing students, physical education teachers, coaches, fitness trainers, academicians, and other personalities from the sports industry. The webinar gave an enriching experience, learning about new career dimensions in sports.
