Dr. Satyapal Singh presides over the ‘National Convention on Higher Education’ at Manav Rachna campus …
The All India Association of Vice Chancellors and Academicians (AIAVCA) organized a ‘National Convention on Higher Education’ at the Manav Rachna campus today. Around 200 Vice Chancellors and Academicians from Universities across Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra, Odisha, Jharkhand, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, UP, Bihar, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, MP & Delhi among others are participating in the Convention. Dr. Satyapal Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State for HRD, GoI was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Among the eminent academicians present on the occasion were Prof. Lokesh Shekhawat, National President, AIAVCA; Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions and Patron-AIAVCA; Dr. P.L. Chaturvedi, Chancellor, Haryana Central University, Mahendergarh; Sh. Sukesh Kumar, Chancellor, J.S. University, Shikohabad; Col. (Dr.) Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, VC, JRNRV University, and Chief Editor, Academic Awakening; Dr. N.C. Wadhwa, VC, MRIIRS and VP, AIAVCA; Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, VC, Manav Rachna University; and Prof. B.N. Pandey, Secretary General, AIAVCA.
Dr. N C Wadhwa introduced the august gathering to the purpose and the role of the Association towards elevating the level of Higher Education in the country.
Dr. Prashant Bhalla has been chosen as the Patron of the prestigious All India Association of Vice Chancellors and Academicians.
The National Magazine of the Association “Academic Awakening” was also released by the dignitaries.
In his address, Dr. Satyapal Singh said: “I do not agree with the classification of education into lower and higher. Education always has a higher purpose, which is that of the development of humans. Which is why, I appreciate the edifice behind the name of the Manav Rachna and am happy to note that the host institution has thought in this direction”. He advocated the inclusion of ‘moral education’ into the curriculum at the higher education level and suggested that the Academicians must leverage their authority towards this direction.
The inaugural session was followed by three separate technical sessions that covered various aspects of academic autonomy, globalization and nationalism.
