National Conference on Safar Road Transportation to Promote National Tourism

Department of Hotel Management, Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), MRIIRS participated in Two-day National Conference on “SAFER ROAD TRANPORTATION TO PROMOTE NATIONAL TOURISM” organized by Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE ) in association with Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India. The Conference was inaugurated by Mr. K. J. Alphonse, Honorable Union Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge) – Govt. of India.

Distinguished speakers during the two-day conference included Mr. G K. Pillai, IAS (retd.) Former Union Home Secretary; Mr. Anil Agarwal, IPS, Joint secretary, Ministry of Commerce; Dr. Rohit Baluja, President – IRTE & Director – CTM, Mr. Sanjay Bhasin, COO – Air & Ground Transport, GO-MMT Group; Mr. Sanjay Beniwal, IPS; Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Professor, School of Planning and Architecture; Mr. Atul Kumar, Former Chief General Manager – NHAI; Mr. Nitesh Prakash, Senior Director – OLA; and Mr. Robert Nowak, Economic Affair Officer – Sustainable Tourism, UNECE – Geneva.

The speakers deliberated upon the role and the effects of the safer road transport on the Tourism and its related economic enhancement. In his key note address, Honorable Tourism Minster shared his views on the need for improving our image as a country where road transport is considered most unsafe. All the presentations were very informative. He emphasized on improving the “On Road Experience”, by all means.

The event with distinguished gathering at India Habitat Centre was a good learning opportunity for the Students and the Faculty. Students also experienced the well Organized and Enjoyable hospitality of the Esteemed Convention Centre. On the whole, it was a good learning opportunity for the participants.
