Dr G.L. Khanna, Dean, Faculty of Applied Science, MRIU along with ace sportsmen Abhinav Bindra and Pullela Gopichand in Government’s Task Force for next three Olympics

Manav Rachna family is overjoyed with the news of Dr G.L. Khanna, Dean, Faculty of Applied Science, Manav Rachna International University (MRIU) being named along with ace sportsmen Abhinav Bindra and Pullela Gopichand in the government’s Task Force for the next three Olympics! It is a rare honour and one that has further reinforced Manav Rachna’s sports-centric philosophy in its efforts to impart Quality Education to its students. Union Sports Minister Shri Vijay Goel on Monday said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the constitution of the Task Force Committee.
Dr G.L. Khanna along with other Task Force members including Ace Shooter Abhinav Bindra and Badminton Great Pullela Gopichand would be preparing a comprehensive action plan for the next three Olympic Games to be held in 2020, 2024 and 2028. Apart from the trio, the committee also features Rajesh Kalra (Chief Editor, Times Group Online), Viren Rasquinha (CEO – Olympic Gold Quest), Om Pathak (School Sports Promotion Foundation), S. Baldev Singh (Hockey Coach), and Sandeep Pradhan (Director General, Sports Authority of Gujarat (Member Convenor). The task force will suggest a comprehensive action plan including short-term, medium-term and long-term measures for effective participation of Indian sportspersons in the next three Olympic Games. The task force is also expected to suggest effective methods to identify core probable/medal prospects for 2020 Olympics, their coaches and support staff. The committee will also help in selecting components of world-class support system for top ranking sportspersons and lay down the strategies. That besides, the task force will suggest ways to achieve synergy in the efforts of key stakeholders within Government of India and across State Governments, IOA, National Sports Federations, NGOs. The Committee would also provide significant inputs towards improving the standards of coaching and sports scientists within the country and look at ways to create and upgrade sports infrastructure needed to train top-level athletes in the country.
