Mohammad Kaif & Reetinder Singh Sodhi grace the finals of the 11th Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge Cup

The presence of celebrity cricketers at the Manav Rachna campus is always a cause for much exuberance and joy. So when the famous International Cricketers Mohammad Kaif and Reetinder Singh Sodhigraced the final match of the 11thManav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge Cup, there was euphoria in abundance!

Their presence at the inauguration of the thrilling final between Maruti Suzuki and Sledge Hammer gave ample reasons to the Finalists to put their best foot forward. The celebrity cricketers credited Mr. Sarkar Talwar, Director Sports, MREI for his unflinching role in helping the two attain success, early in their life.

Also present on the occasion were Sh. S Y Siddiqui, Chief Mentor, Maruti Suzuki; Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI; Dr. Amit Bhalla, VP, MREI; Dr. N C Wadhwa, VC, MRIIRS; and Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI.

Mr. Mohammad Kaif said: “I am amazed at the kind of facilities being provided at the campus. We were never so privileged. I am confident that with the ceaseless passion that everyone at Manav Rachna has, this tournament will only grow bigger in size and stature.

The Champions Trophy was lifted by Sledge Hammer. They defeated the team from Maruti by 6 wickets. After winning the toss, Maruti chose to bat first. They made 237 runs in 20 overs (for 10 wickets). While batting next, Sledge Hammer made 239 runs in 16.5 overs (for 4 wickets).

Mr. NirwanAttri from Sledge Hammer was declared the Man of the Match and the player of the tournament. He made 57 runs from 23 balls in the final match and also bowled brilliantly. Mr. Vikram from Honda car was awarded as the Best Bowler of the tournament. Nived Mishra from Sledge Hammer was adjudged the Best Batsman of the tournament. The Fair play trophy was lifted by Honda Motorcycle.
