Mediation as a Tool for Conflict Management

This webinar was the third in a series hosted jointly by the Centre of Excellence on Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR) in association with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and the UNCITRAL National Coordination Committee for India (UNCCI). The star cast of speakers at this event were Justice Madan Lokur (Judge, Supreme Court of Fiji), Dr Judith Kneiper (Legal Officer, UNCITRAL), Nathalie Morris-Sharma (Director, International Legal Division, Ministry of Law, Singapore) and Dr Nadja Alexander (Professor of Law, Singapore Management University).

The discussions were steered by moderators Shreyas Jayasimha (Arbitrator, Mediator and Advocate, Aarna Law) and Ajay Thomas (Director, Faculty of Law), and revolved around the rise in the use of mediation in India and internationally, and also on the implications of the imminent coming into force of the Singapore Convention on Mediation.

The attendees included 247 mediation enthusiasts, mainly from the Indian sub-continent, but also from far away jurisdictions: UK, France, Poland, Italy, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Austria, Greece, Germany, Peru, Bolivia, Mexico, Brazil, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Algeria, Maldives, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Lebanon, UAE, Bahrain and Serbia – a veritable mini-United Nations assembly!
