MBA after Engineering as a career option

Faculty of Management Studies organized an interaction with FET students (Computers, Electronic and Electrical) on April 26. Pursuing an MBA after engineering has become a trend among engineers in the last decade. But what relevance does an MBA have to the highly technical skills of a professional engineer and is there a need for engineers to pursue an MBA? FMS team guided students to answer this career building question and clear their doubts and Myths about “MBA after Engineering as a career option.”

The session was addressed by Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, MD-MREI; Dr. M K Soni, PVC, MRIIRS; Dr. Krishna Kant, ED & Dean, FET; Brig. S N Setia, Director Admissions.

Dr. Sanjay Srivastava stated that the trend is moving towards Industry 4.0 and therefore, it is important to club technical knowledge with the management/business knowledge. Dr. Soni stated that engineers have much required technical edge to succeed in the management field. Dr. Krishna Kant also stressed upon making the technical knowledge more meaningful with an MBA. Brig. Setia motivated the students by sharing his story and how learning is a never-ending process.

Prof. (Dr.) Gaurav Sood presented “MBA after Engineering as a career option”. This was followed by an experience sharing by FMS first year MBA student Kirti Lochab who is a computer engineering graduate from Manav Rachna.
