Manav Rachna students and faculty members attended Programme on ‘World Biofuel Day’

World Biofuel Day is observed every year on August 10 with an aim to raise awareness about the significance of non fossil fuel as an alternative. Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas organized World Biofuel Day 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India was the Chief Guest for the event. 26 Students of Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies along with 5 faculty members (Dr. Sarita, Ms. Rashmi, Dr. Nidhi, Dr. Arpita, Dr. Rajesh) from Department of Biotechnology, FET, MRIIRS participated in this program.

Shri Narendra Modi addressed the gathering on how biofuels can help reduce import dependency on crude oil and how they are contributing to a cleaner environment and shall generate income and employment in rural areas. He launched PARIVESH (Pro Active and Responsive facilitation by Interactive and Virtuous Environmental Single Window Hub).

After the inaugural session, three interactive sessions were conducted on ethanol production, biodiesel policy initiatives and Bio CNG.

The visit was very informative as students were able to collect information on technologies involved in biofuel generation. Faculties and Students also got an opportunity to interact with Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and Education Minister Sh. Satya Pal Singh.
