Manav Rachna and PSG hosted NEYP 2022 at the Sansad Bhawan in the presence of Sh. Om Birla
Ji, Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker

More than 3,000 students from 156+ Universities across India participated in the National
Environment Youth Parliament 2022 (NEYP 2022) organized by Paryavaran Sanrakshan Gatividhi
(PSG). The Award and Valedictory Session of NEYP 2022 was hosted by Manav Rachna International
Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) along with PSG at the Sansad Bhawan on April 16, 2022.
Two debate sessions were held between the Treasury and Opposition Benches of NEYP 2022 in the
Lok Sabha which was followed by the Award and Valedictory Ceremony.
Shri Om Birla Ji (Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker), Parliament of India presided as the Chief Guest. Shri
Bhupender Yadav Ji, Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate
Change, GoI, and Shri Savji Dholakia ji, Padma Shree Awardee were the Guests of Honour. Ms.
Aarya Chavda, a 12-year old environment crusader, and Master Kautilya Pandit, Google Boy also
joined the session as Special Guests.
Also present on the occasion were Sh. Gopal Arya, National Convenor, PSG; Sh. Rakesh Jain, National
Sah Sanyojak, PSG; Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI),
and Chancellor MRIIRS; Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI; Dr. N C Wadhwa, DG, MREI; Dr. Sanjay
Srivastava, VC, MRIIRS; Dr. I.K. Bhat, VC, Manav Rachna University, Dr. Gurjeet Kaur Chawla, Dean-
DSW, MRIIRS, and Organizing Secretary, NEYP 2022; Additional Secretary Shri Prasenjit Singh Ji, and
Vice Chancellors and Heads of many Institutions.
Sh. Om Birla Ji during his address said, “Climate change has affected the five basic elements on Earth
and emphasized to devise a plan to reduce the greenhouse effects and maintain the eco-system.
Along with debates, we need to act on how these plans can be implemented and bring generative
results.” He also shared, “Humans have majorly impacted the environment with their actions and
thus, it is our responsibility only to protect and safeguard it.” He also emphasized the importance of
positive and solution-oriented recommendations in a democracy like India.
Shri Bhupender Yadav Ji started his address with the details of carbon emissions and shared, “The
new energy resources innovated in the last few years have contributed immensely in carbon
emissions that the same temperature rise we have seen in the last 200 years will also be amounted
to the next 80 years to come”. “India is a solution provider to the world and has set incomparable
standards in the area of alternative energy resources.” He also shared that India will ban 120mm
plastic in the country completely from June 30, 2022, and expressed his desire to conduct the
National Environment Youth Parliament in regional languages as well.
Shri Savji Dholakia ji addressed the Youth and said, “You have the opportunity to give back to the
Nature and enjoy it. Every seed that you add to the nature, gives you abundant benefits.”
With a message to ignite action and save Mother Earth, Ms. Aarya Chavda talked about how species
other than Humans are being affected by the environment changes. She addressed the Youth of the
Nation and urged them to create a community that can safeguard our future and develop a sense of
responsibility to ensure eco-conscious living, and protect the environment.
The Google Boy, Kautilya Pandit insisted and expressed his hope in the people of the Nation to bring
the Earth above all the environmental related issues, and conserve the environment heritage of

India. He said, “In whatever we do, we just need to ensure that we are not harming the
environment.”
Dr. Gurjeet Kaur Chawla presented the NEYP 2022 Report which was followed by the Prize
Distribution Ceremony.
In his Vote of Thanks, Dr. Prashant Bhalla shared how this youth parliament journey commenced
online with National Environment Youth Forum in 2021 and the vision to bring this concern to the
Sansad Bhawan is now a reality.
