Invited Lecture And Workshop On ‘’Innovation In Chemistry Lab Teaching’’ By Dr. Sangeeta Pandita

DR.SANGEETA PANDITA & DR. SARITA PASSEY (Associate professor), ZAKIR HUSSAIN DELHI COLLEGE, from university of DELHI, visited Manav Rachna University to delivered the fourth invited guest lecture on ‘’INNOVATION IN CHEMISTRY LAB TEACHING’ ’to M.Sc & B.Sc Chemistry students.

She started the lecture by explaining about the innovations and the creativity in chemistry. She highlighted the word “paradigm” which is our way of looking at things. She told students about the micro analysis, who was the pioneer person behind that and why did he started.

She explained about their self made cold finger refluxing apparatus, BODMEL, Craig tube and demonstrated them in the second half of the workshop. Along with this they demonstrated chemiluminescence experiment with luminol & the difference between monosaccharide & disaccharide using potassium ferricyanide using the time for which the colour prolonged. Tomato juice rainbow and tri colour flag dye were also a part of it.

She suggested some green synthesis and extraction of organic compounds and on which M.Sc students can work upon.  The lecture was indeed very enriching which motivated PG students for finding their research problems and gave an immense knowledge to undergraduates as well as to the faculty.
