Interactive Session with Dr M. Sayeed Alam

A two day session on Theatre and Communication was organized by the Department of Management & Commerce for BBA students on 8th & 9 th March, 2017. As a renowned theatre personality who has worked with the likes of Tom Alter, Dr M. Sayeed Alam interacted with the students on various aspects of communication and the ways to improve one’s personality.

Dr. M. Sayeed Alam, a man of varied interests, was born and brought up in Basti, a small town in Uttar Pradesh. He was educated at Aligarh Muslim University where he received a Doctorate in Political Science (International Politics) in 1994. Alam was a university teacher and journalist before following his passion – Theatre ­– as a profession in 1996. Ever since, he has written, directed, and acted in, more than 1500 shows of 40 stage plays to critical acclaim and appreciative audience. Some of his prominent works on stage as writer, director and actor are Ghalib in New Delhi, Maulana Azad, KL Saigal, ChachacChchakkan in Action, To Gandhi JicWith Spelling Mistakes and Maulana Azad KeQalam Se. He was conferred the prestigious Ghalib Award (for Urdu Drama) in 2011.

He explained the importance of stage plays as tools of communication and the students were asked to play short sketches or skits on which he improvised. He gave an insight into the role of Language & Literature in honing one’s Communication skills. He further discussed on writing scripts.Overall, the session proved to be very fruitful for the students.
