Guest Lecture by Prof. Basudeb Chakraborti on “The influence of Darwinism on the novels of Thomas Hardy”
The Department of English, Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studiesorganized a Guest Lecture by Professor Basudeb Chakraborti on “The influence of Darwinism on the novels of Thomas Hardy”recently. Prof. Basudeb Chakraborti is a Professor of English and former Head of Department of English, and Dean, Faculty of Arts and Commerce, University of Kalyani, West Bengal, India. He received his Doctorate in English on Thomas Hardy from the University of Kalyani, and did M.A. in English from the University of Houston at Clear Lake City, Houston, Texas, USA.
The main objective of the lecture was to enlighten the students on the current research going on in the field of English Literature in general and Thomas Hardy in particular.

he students showed a keen interest in this innovative and unexplored topic. Many students also expressed their desire to pursue research on a similar topic in future.
