World Physiotherapy Day is celebrated across the globe on Sep
8, 2019. This day provides the opportunity to all Physiotherapists to come
together and create a platform for exchange & up-gradation of knowledge.
This year the theme was “Chronic Pain” a condition which is a big burden
on global health.
To mark this day, Department of Physiotherapy organized 3 day celebrations from September 7 to 9, 2019.
The last day of the celebrations started with lamp lighting by Prof (Dr) M.K. Soni, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, MRIIRS, Prof (Dr) Naresh Grover, Dean Academics & FAS and Dr. Tarun Lala, HOD Physiotherapy Max Hospitals. The Lamp lighting was followed by Ganesh Vandana and a semi-classical dance performance. Prof (Dr) Naresh Grover, welcomed the audience with words of motivation.
He told the students that Physiotherapy has evolved as a profession over the years and for conditions like low back pain and knee pain, instead of taking medications which have side-effects people now go to Physiotherapists and get benefitted. Prof. (Dr) M.K. Soni, encouraged the students with his enlightening words of wisdom. He praised the Departmental OPD and shared his personal experiences of Physiotherapy treatment is beneficial for him.
Keynote Speaker, Dr. Tarun Lala (PT) addressed the students on “Recent advances in Physiotherapy Practice”. He updated students about latest techniques like mirror therapy, taping, and assistive technology. The session was highly productive for the students.
In addition to the talk, the department had also organized Quiz, Poster and Dance Completion. Over 100 students participated from 7 prestigious universities and colleges like Jamia Hamdard University, DPSRU, Delhi, MVN University, Jagnath University, Sharda University, Noida, Banarsi Das Chandiwala Institute of Physiotherapy and ISIC.
The Wall of lasting impressions with handprints of dignitaries and final year students was also created. The event ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Pooja Anand (PT) (HOD, Physiotherapy).
