FBSS Celebrated Founder’s Day through SPARSH

Faculty of Behavioral & Social Sciences, MRIIRS under the aegis of Dr. OP Bhalla Foundation launched Faridabad’s first of its kind initiative for community development through a series of mental health camps, ‘SPARSH- Touching people’s lives’. Under this, the students of FBSS took mental health and well-being services at the doorstep of Guru Vrishram Vridh Ashram- SHEOWS, Badarpur, New Delhi on April 5, 2018. The visit was graced by Smt. Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI and Dr. M.M. Kathuria, Trustee, MREI who encouraged the students of Faculty of Behavioral & Social Sciences to help the senior citizens.

Students did the psychological assessment of hundred residents of Vridh Ashram who suffered from Dementia, Alzheimer, Schizophrenia, which included MSE, DRS-2 and CogniStat and other psychological disorders besides physical disability due to paralysis and accidents.

After the identification and profiling in terms of Mental Health, intervention strategies for wellness will be devised for them and the people who require support will be adopted for psychotherapy and will be counseled by the psychologists at the ‘Human Lab’, FBSS, MRIIRS.

A cheque of rupees thirty one thousand was given to the Ashram for medical support and to help the patients in need. Five hundred kilograms of rice, two hundred kilograms of pulses, and Adult diapers were also donated. A langar was also served by the students to the elder people and staff of SHEOWS.
