The Department of Nutrition & Dietetics organized an expert talk on ‘Novel Technologies in Food Packaging’. The guest speaker for the talk was Dr. P.N. Raju, Senior Scientist (Food Science & Technology) from ICAR, NDRI, Karnal. The session was chaired by Professor (Dr) G. L. Khanna PVC MRIIRS, Co-chaired by Dean FAHS Professor (Dr) Moattar Raza Rizvi and HoD Dr Divya Sanghi.
The session was moderated by Ms. Divya Puri, Assistant Professor, Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, FAHS. The session was attended by students, faculty members, industry professionals , and research scholars from various organizations.
The session started with the welcome address by Professor (Dr) Moattar Raza Rizvi. The talk comprised various aspects related to functions of food packaging, the recent emerging trends in food packaging, etc. He also highlighted the acceptable application of aseptic, active and intelligent packaging in the years to come. The speaker raised his concern over the ever-increasing menace of waste produced by single-use plastic.
He emphasized the use of biodegradable packaging solutions to keep the environment sustainable. The session was followed by a conscientious Q&A round.
The session consummated with a vote of thanks by Dr. Divya Sanghi, HOD, Department of Nutrition & Dietetics for sparing his valuable time and apprising all participants.
