Expert Speakers from Industry delivered talks during International Workshop on Wavelets and its Applications

Department of Mathematics, MRU organized an International Workshop on ‘Wavelets and its Applications: Image Processing, Data Science and PDEs’ recently. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prof. Bin Han, University of Alberta, Canada, Prof. Ratikanta Behera, University of Central Florida, USA, Prof. Ram Bilas Pachori, IIT Indore, Prof I.K. Bhatt, VC, MRU, Prof. D. S. Sanger, PVC, MRU, Prof Sangeeta Banga, Dean Academics, MRU, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Kr. Varshney, Dean Research & Dean Applied Sciences, MRU, Dr. Deepa Arora, Head, Department of Mathematics, MRU, and Dr. N.K. Shukla, Head, Department of Mathematics, IIT Indore.

Prof. Ram Bilas Pachori, Professor, Department of Mathematics, IIT Indore delivered the first talk of the workshop. He focused on the beauty of wavelets, multiscale structure, DWT decomposition & its implementations in signal compression, denoising, discontinuity detection etc.

Second session was taken by Dr. Niraj K. Shukla, IIT Indore who briefly discussed advantages of axiomatic approach to mild distributions and explained a Banach space for test functions, key players for time-frequency analysis, Musical STFT, and Different BUPUs using B-splines.

On the Second day, first session was conducted by Dr. Niraj K Shukla, Head Department of Mathematics, IIT Indore. Prof. Bin Han, Professor, University of Alberta, Canada was the guest speaker for the talk on “Wavelet methods for numerical PDEs and data science”. Prof. Bin Han briefly explained Riesz wavelets & multiwavelets, Biorthogonal wavelets, in Sobolev Spaces, Wavelets vs Framelets, construction of biorthogonal wavelets in Sobolev Spaces, Biorthogonal filter bank.

This was followed by a talk by Prof. Khalil Ahmad, Al- falha University, Faridabad & formerly Professor & Head, Department of Mathematics, Jamia Millia Islamia, on “Applications of Wavelets: Signal & Image Processing.

Prof. Peter Massopust,Technische Universität München, Germany delivered a talk on “Introduction to Wavelets-I”.

All the talks were very informative & interesting. Each showcased a wide spectrum of the Wavelets.

The sessions were concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Aparna Vyas, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, MRU.
