On January 15th, 2024, the Research and Development Cell (RDC) at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) hosted a transformative expert lecture on “Health Sector and IT” for faculty members from the Manav Rachna Dental College and Hospital and School of Allied Health Sciences. Bringing together 26 enthusiastic participants, the session delivered valuable insights into the evolving landscape of healthcare IT.
Dr. Abhishek Sharma, Senior Assistant Director at the Quality Council of India, served as the esteemed resource person. Dr. Puneet Batra, Research Director-Health Sciences at RDC and Principal of the Manav Rachna Dental College and Hospital along with Dr. Sarita Sachdeva, Executive Director & Dean, RDC, warmly welcomed Dr. Sharma and the participants, setting the stage for an engaging discourse.
The session focused on familiarizing faculty members with the initiatives taken by the Government of India to enhance healthcare IT facilities and reduce implementation costs. Dr. Sharma skillfully introduced the concept of healthcare IT to doctors, physiotherapists, and dieticians, highlighting its potential to streamline patient care and ensure secure digital health records. He delved into the roles and responsibilities of hospital staff and doctors in managing data through various electronic health record software, empowering participants with practical knowledge and best practices.
The interactive Q&A session proved particularly insightful, with participants actively seeking clarification on specific aspects of IT implementation and its various applications within the healthcare landscape. Dr. Sharma’s comprehensive answers shed light on the importance of IT for interoperability, research collaboration, and enhancing healthcare delivery overall.
