Emerging Power-train technologies and Expectation of industry from students

Report of Guest lecture organized on 31-3-2016 by Automobile Engineering Department

Automobile Engineering Dept. organized Guest lecture on the topic “Emerging Power-train technologies and Expectation of industry from students” on 31-3-2016 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in C Block Room No CG-29. The Lecture was delivered by Mr. Uttam Kumar Mishra, Sr. Manager, Engine Design Division Maruti Suzuki India Limited. The lecture was attended by 64 students and 6 Faculty members of Automobile & Mechanical Engineering Departments. Other dignitaries who were present during the lecture were Mr. Anup Kacker, ED SAE Northern India Section, Dr. B S Gill, Director, Manav Rachna Innovation and Incubation Center and Brig. Prabhat Kumar Sinha, Director CRC.
Dr. A K S Chowdhary (Prof. Mechanical Engg) and Brig. Prabhat Kumar Sinha welcomed the resource persons with saplings. The guest speaker Mr. Uttam Kumar Mishra has about 15 years of rich experience in engine design & development and is associated with SAE and academia from last 10 years. He has been continuously guiding students through various guest lectures, seminars and workshops. He has been helping students in various SAE events like SAE Supra and Efficycle.
The keynote speaker Mr Uttam Kumar Mishra., during the lecture discussed three major topics on
• History and Basics of power-train technologies.
• Advancements in Hybrid Vehicle technologies.
• Expectation of industry from students.
During the lecture he discussed present hybrid technology where regenerative system is used for recuperation of energy. He further discussed and demonstrated the automatic transmission used in Celerio brand of Maruti. In the second part of the lecture he discussed about the Expectation of industry from students where he focused on six requirements that the industry is look for. these requirements are Professionalism, lifelong learning, Ethics and social responsibilities, application of knowledge, product orient research and teamwork. After the lecture, the speaker of the day interacted with audience.
Mr. Anup Kacker enlightened the participants with his words of wisdom with keywords like lifelong learning and out of the box thinking. He stressed upon the interdepartmental students interaction with SAE in near future. The session was very nicely presented, keeping the audience engrossed in the session with their full concentration.
A memento was presented by Dr. Devendra Vashist, Prof. & Head (Auto) preceded by vote of thanks in which he assured Mr. Anup Kacker for organizing SAE event with interuniversity participation at MRIU campus.
As per the feedback received from the participants it was very good learning experience, the lecture helped them in their understanding various technical aspects with relation to hybrid vehicle technology and understanding the demand of industry.
