Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions(MREI) has been elected to chair the National Councilon Education at the country’s premier industry chamber – Assocham India. The council is co-chaired by Mr. Nipun Goenka, MD, GD Goenka Group.
This is one of the most prominent and a crucial council within the ASSOCHAM which has contributed immensely in the growth of the sector and in shaping the policies of the Centre and State Governments.
As the Chairman of the Council, Dr. Prashant Bhalla led the discussions at the 2nd Management Committee meeting of ASSOCHAM where like-minded individuals came together to deliberate upon: Infrastructure, curriculum, rural education, women’s education, accreditation, employer training, faculty, and many other facets of education.
In his address, Dr. Prashant Bhalla talked of charting out a structured ‘Vision 2030 on Education’ for our country with well-defined goals. He also stressed on building a ‘Centre Of Excellence in Future Technologies’ that would guide the academia and students on future job roles and expectations from the industry. He also said: “We must drive the CSR spend of ASSOCHAM members towards innovation support and research. Social innovations and outcomes must be pushed”.
Dr. Bhalla also drew the attention of the audience towards internationalization and globalization linked issues around rankings, quality, accreditation, autonomy, regulatory challenges and rating of Indian Institutions. He also reiterated upon evolving a global resourcing platform for skills and deployment of technology for improving the overall quality of education.
