Distraction for Pain Management – Pediatric Patients

Distraction serves as an effective tool in the management of pain in pediatric patients as it tends to divert the patient’s attention from what may be perceived as an unpleasant procedure.
This behavior management technique distracts the patient away from the stimuli causing anxiety thereby relaxing the patient and reducing anxiety throughout the dental procedure.
Such advanced behavior management techniques are routine practices in our department to manage young, fearful and anxious children.
