Department of Chemistry, ManavRachna University organized a one day workshop on “Hyperspectral Technology in remote sensing” on 21st April, 2022 from 1:00pm onwards in online mode. The workshop was based on the applications of GIS and remote sensing. The resource person for the same was Dr.Karunesh Kumar Shukla, Research Associate, ICAR-National Research Centre for Integrated Management, New Delhi, India. He has a vast experience in the area of remote sensing in disaster management.
The workshop was convened by Prof. MeghaBansal, HOD, Department of Chemistry, MRU, where she welcomed the speaker along with all participants and also introduced the speaker.More than hundred participants attended the workshop including UG and PG students, PhD scholars and Professionals from various academic institutions and industries like BabasahebBhimraoAmbedkar University;Lucknow, Central University, Gujrat; CSIR-CIMAP research centre, Pantnagar; IOCL and many more.
Dr.KaruneshShukla conducted a technical session on application of hyperspectral remote sensing in waste management of different crops where he pointed about the functioning of vegetation indices, contour making, spectral resolution, etc. He explained about the elements of remote sensing such as satellites, sensors, ground trothing, and data interpretation. He also conducted hands on for trend analysis, map formation and location mapping by using GPS coordinates through the Google earth software.
Overall the workshop was a very informative and interactive and was very much beneficial to students. Students are now demanding such a workshop to be organized in physical mode rather than online since it is useful for them in their research work.
The hand on session was followed by question and answer which was taken up by Dr.Roopa Rani, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry followed by vote of thanks by Dr.Vinayak Vandan Pathak. The session ended with a token of appreciation to Dr.Shukla projecting his certificate of appreciation.
