Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Applied Science, MRIU organized an expert lecture

At the Valedictory Ceremony of National Nutrition Week 2017, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Applied Science, MRIU organized an expert lecture on 7th September 2017. Dr. Shweta Khandelwal, Research Scientist and Adjunct Assistant Professor, Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) delivered a talk on ‘Gaps in Infant and Young Child Nutrition in India: Lessons for Public Nutrition Policy’. She discussed the recent vital statistics of children not only at national but also at the global level. She also discussed the targets and strategy of World Health Assembly (WHA) and National Family Health Survey- 3 (NFHS) by 2025. She stressed on Infant and Young Child (IYCF) guideline and its practices in community.

The day concluded with Dr. O.P. Bhalla Memorial 2nd Inter University Manav Rachna Nutrition Update Quiz. There were 6 rounds in total with 1 prelims round. 6 rounds were Innings round, Gap Fillers, One word, Pictionary round, Buzzer round and Rapid fire round. 16 teams from various colleges of Delhi-NCR, SGTB Khalsa College Delhi University, Lady Irwin College Delhi University, Shri Venketeshwara College Delhi University, Dayal Singh College Delhi University and Manav Rachna International University participated enthusiastically.

After qualifying all the rounds, winners were Shivani and Manovrit from Department of Biotechnology Manav Rachna International University, 1st Runners up were Akhil and Himanshu from Shri Venketeshwara College, Delhi University and 2nd Runners up were Komal and Pritika from Department of Biotechnology, Manav Rachna International University.
