Faculty of Management Studies, MRIIRS has organized an Orientation Programme for MBA Freshers wherein various workshops, webinars, live talks are being conducted. From Day 11 to 14 of the orientation, various interactions, sessions, skill sessions and management games were conducted for the new students.
Day 11: The first session on Day 1 was conducted on the Fundamentals of Management bridge course was taken up by Dr. Anindita C. Rao in which she informed students about the decision making which is an important part of an MBA program. The second session was on Alumni interaction wherein Samin and Samiksha, Alumni of FMS, MRIIRS (2016-18 Batch) interacted and shared their corporate experience with the students. This was followed by the third session
Bridge course session which was taken up by Dr. Nand L. Dhameja. He discussed the two types of receipts and payments- revenue and capital with examples. Students were also told about the link that receipts and payments have with the profit and loss account and balance sheet.
Day 12: First session on Day 12 was conducted on the Basics of IT skills for Managers wherein students were introduced to different tools of excel that can be used by them as future managers for doing analysis at different levels and data mining. In the 2nd Session, students were given Introduction to clubs and committees. The session was between two super enthusiastic batches of MBA where the senior batch apprised the new batch about the various clubs like Entrepreneurship, Literary, and CSR club along with the Event committee. This was the first platform where the senior and junior batch shared the same platform and interacted. 3rd session was conducted on Communication Skills by Ms. Antara Guha, Manager of Career Skills CDC with over 10years experience in corporate training and skill development. Day 14: 1st Session of Day 14 was conducted on the ‘Basics of IT skills for Managers’ by Dr. Stuti Sahni on Basics of IT skills for Managers. In this session, she introduced students to the basic skills while preparing a presentation. She also emphasized that it’s very important to highlight the content in the presentation carefully which puts a good impression on the audience. This was followed by the Management Game which was conducted by Dean FMS, Dr. Prof Nandlal Dhameja. Students were given two different situations and were told to come up with alternative solutions to get out of the situation. Through this game, students learnt the importance of brainstorming before reaching any conclusion. 3rd session was conducted on the Basics of Statistics and focused on the collection and presentation of data. Students were given a dataset on which they were told to organize the data and create a frequency table and relative frequency table. Further, students were given an introduction of bar charts and pie charts after which they did hands-on with the given data set. The session was conducted with the help of a PowerPoint presentation and self-learning activities.
