CYCLE RALLY FROM JAMIA MILIA ISLAMIA – February 14, 2017

Department of Students’ Welfare, MRIU welcomed the NSS team of Jamia Milia Islamia to the Manav Rachna Campus on February 14, 2017. The Cycle Rally 2017 was an initiative to a social agenda of Digital India and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
 Dr. Naimatullah Khan (Prof. Social Work, J.M.I. University), Dr. Abid Khan (Asst. Prof. , J.M.I. University), Dr. I.K. Kilam (Dean Students’ Welfare, MRIU), Mr. Sarkar Talwar, (Director Sports, MRIU), Mr. Deepak Sharma,(Dy. Registrar, MRIU) and a group of enthusiastic faculties and students from Jamia Milia Islamia University and Manav Rachna International University were present in the Board Room, Block – A for a meet and greet session.
The session started with the introductory address by Mr. Sarkar Talwar who appreciated the members for starting a rally for a good cause and boosted up the morale of the students who had travelled a long way to reach Manav Rachna. In continuation, Dr. N. U. Khan introduced their team which comprised of 11 girls, 11 boys and 11 faculty members of Jamia Milia Islamia. He mentioned that “this is not a competition that one wins a cycle race, but it is a rally which binds everyone together”. Mr. S. Musarrat Ali, Faculty from J.M.I.U volunteered from the audience and along with his team of cyclists presented a theme song “O ri Chidaiya” which symbolized that women power is more than any other source of power in the world.  A woman has the ability to work like Goddess Durga and is as calm as Goddess Saraswati. Followed by this were the students : Sayema Zafar, Mubasheer Abbas and Heeba Neyaz who expressed their views by reciting poems on Naari Ka Samman, Pita ka Pyaar, and a speech on Changing Era of Women’s Life. The atmosphere was filled with energy and enthusiasm after the presentations by the students. Ms. Himani Saraswat, Coordinator Students’ Welfare, MRIU, narrated a self composed poem on the ‘Girl Child’ which was highly applauded.

Dr. I.K. Kilam gave the vote of thanks to the members of NSS from Jamia Milia Islamia and suggested the conducting of similar socially oriented events together in future. He also read out a short poem on ‘Naari’ written by RJ Faheem from RMR.

Later, the cyclists continued their rally as Dr. Kilam waved off the flag and wished them happy journey.
