Civil Engineering Students Visited Indian Meteorological Department

Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS), Faridabad organized a one-day visit to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Lodhi Road, New Delhi recently.  A group of 34 students from 7th semester along with Mrs. Shashi Tiwari & Mr Aftab Alam proceeded to the IMD. The IMD is an agency of the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Government of India. It is the principal agency responsible for meteorological observations, weather forecasting and seismology. IMD is headquartered in Delhi and operates hundreds of observation stations across India and Antarctica.

IMD is also one of the six regional specialized meteorological Centers of the World Meteorological Organization. It has the responsibility for forecasting, naming and distribution of warnings for tropical cyclones.
