Butterfly Count in Delhi Butterfly Month 2018

Bombay Natural History Society, Conservation Education Centre-Delhi (BNHS, CEC) and Department of Forests and Wildlife GNCT of Delhi in collaboration with Butterfly Research Centre of Bhimtal, Ninox and The Delight Factory organized Delhi Butterfly Month 2018 in the month of September 2018.  It was organized with an aim to spread awareness about butterflies, to gather scientific information, which will further help in execution of butterfly conservation, and to initiate experts-public interactions on the subject. Butterflies are an important bio-indicator of the environment around us. They form a crucial part of the food chain as a prey for various birds, reptiles and spiders. They are also essential in pollinating our food crops.  As a part of Butterfly Month, butterfly count was organized at MRU campus. Dr. Ahmed (Education Officer, Asola Bhatti Sanctuary) guided the students regarding the features which can help in identifying the butterflies.  Dr. Ahmed also brought some plants which are beneficial for butterfly conservation.
