Webinar on MITAHARA: GOOD FOOD FOR BETTER HEALTH

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

In collaboration with Molecular BioSciences Research Cluster Lab, the School of Law, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, organized a national webinar titled “MITAHARA: GOOD FOOD FOR BETTER HEALTH” recently. The purpose of the webinar was to deliberate on the intersection of national and international food safety and health concerns. The webinar was organized by the enthusiastic teams from the School of Law, MRU, including Ms. Akansha Ghose, Ms. Tarundeep Kaur, and Ms. Asmita Patel, and from MBRC Lab, Department of Biotechnology MRIIRS, including Dr. Kapila Kumar and Dr. Jayant Maini. The interdisciplinary team will be conducting many such events in the coming year to emphasize and highlight the importance and relevance of food safety issues in health and policymaking. The webinar was the flagship event organized on World Health Day for the upcoming events on the mentioned aim of MITAHARA.Mr. Shikhar Ranjan discussed the relevance of Charak Samhita, an ayurvedic science based on Indian philosophy and is also called as Science of Living. He drew inferences from it to connect with the current international and domestic health and food safety policies. He was followed by Dr. Dinesh Kumar, who highlighted the role of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the FSS Act, 2006. The FSSAI oversees the development of science-based Food Standards for food products. He stressed that every law student should be aware of the scientific knowledge of statutes for their better implementation. The webinar drew almost 200 people, ensuring that it met the goal.


Dr. Kapila Kumar appreciated the speakers and participants at the end of the webinar. She also invited the speakers to collaborate on future interdisciplinary projects.
