23 year old Indian Scientist Roopam Sharma,FRSA has been featured in Foreign Policy’s 100 Global Thinkers List alongside Bill Gates, Mukesh Ambani, Baba Ramdev and is the youngest person on the list.
Roopam Sharma, an engineering alumnus from ManavRachna, invented “Manovue” which is developed by his technology company Eyeluminati based in Washington DC, USA. Manovue is a glove with a digital eye and a voice that reads text aloud when it is moved over a page. This is a godsend for visually impaired section of the society.
He has also been conferred with the NationalYouthAward by President of India for his contribution to the field of national development and social service through research and innovation.
Roopam has been a recipient of many awards, some of which include GiftedCitizenPrize 2016—called the NobelPrizeofSocialInnovation, Nominee trust 100 2016; MIT Technology Review Innovators under 35 in 2016; World Champion: MicrosoftYouthSparkChallenge for Change 2015; Grand winner, MicrosoftImagineCupIndia, 2015; Winner YahooAccentureInnovationJockeys 2014, 2015, 2016; Infymakers Award 2016; Young Promising Innovator of the year: MeltingPot2020; Runners Up MIT Global Startup Workshop B-Plan Competition 2016; Manav Rachna Presidents Award for international technical achievements 2016 and Manav Rachna Torchbearer Award 2015.
