MRIU SAE Collegiate club along with Automobile & Biotechnology Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET), Manav Rachna International University hosted workshop on “Alternative Fuels For Reduced Import Dependence and Environment Protection” on 21-10-2016 from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
Mr Cuneyt L. Oge , SAE International President was the chief guest of the event. The inaugural session was graced by Dr N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, Manav Rachna International University (MRIU), Dr M.K. Soni, Executive Director and Dean, FET, MRIU; Mr Murli Iyer, Executive Advisor (Global Affairs collegiate), Dr R.K. Malhotra, President, SAE India, Dr.Tapan Sahoo, Sr.Vice President, MSIL among others.
The event started with welcome address of Dr Devendra Vashist where he introduced about the events and the speakers of the workshop. There after Dr M.K.Soni informed about the need of the alternative fuels and the damage caused by the harmful emissions Dr. N.C Wadhwa informed about the different agencies that are involved in finding out the harmful effects in emission he further informed about the use of electric cars. He further shared that in a world where we are going in for a knowledge driven economy, automobile engineers have an important role to play in the larger scheme of things. In such a scenario, SAE would propel them to reach new heights of excellence.”
There after Mr Tapan Sahoo gave the data about the number of Automobile in 1914 and 2014 where he mentioned that very less work is been done on electric mobility.
Talking at length, Dr Murli Iyer congratulated students for their outstanding performance at SAE and said that the SAE Foundation is aimed “at serving the community and making lives better”. He hoped that students would continue their association with SAE post their graduation for it would provide them with great networking opportunities. He also informed about the AWIM activity of SAE. Dr R.K.Malhotra shared his views on the changing technology in the recent times and the possibility of energy revolution in the coming future.
Addressing the gathering of 184 students and 24 faculty members, Mr.Cuneyt L. Oge, informed about the past and the future plans of SAE International. In his slide show expanding the horizon 2050 he discussed the future technologies that are in the development stages as of now. This was followed by the interactive session where in students from 8 different institutions interacted with SAE President. The workshop was attended by the students and faculty advisors of KIET, Ghaziabad (7 students) Amity University Noida (2 students and 2 faculty) Rawal Institutins (7 Students), Manipal University Jaipur (3 students), Dhronacharya College of Engg 5 students and 2 faculty) and several others. The inaugural session ended at 12:00 Noon.
The second technical session of workshop had two technical presentations from Mr.Uttam Kumar Mishra, Sr.Manager Engine Design Division, Maruti Suzuki India Limited who delivered a complete overview of the CNG system and its working. The second speaker of this session was Dr.A S Ramadhas, Research Manager in Vehicle Testing Fuel and Emissions Department, Indian Oil Corporation Limited. He presented the complete data about the different alternative fuels such as ethanol, its blends usage in the engines and their effects.
The event was concluded with vote of thanks to esteemed guests and participants by Dr. Devendra Vashist Head (Automobile Engg).
