“Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar”: Clan activity

To inculcate relevant skills in the journalism students to be a great broadcaster, a clan activity titled “Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar” was organized recently in the in-house TV Studio by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities.

In this exercise, students faced the camera and read the news of the day. Journalism students of the first year, second year and masters participated in it very enthusiastically. Students read the news with great confidence and articulated the nuances of news well during their reading. The exercise helped students overcome their fears to face the camera. Some students faltered but some demonstrated a great flair for the presentation of news.

The activity was judged by HoD Journalism- Mr. Manoj Raut; and Assistant Professors- Mr. Dheeraj Arya, Ms. Ankita Bharti, and Ms. Geetika Vashishata. Students were judged on criteria of news skills, presentation, and aptitude for news reading. They proved themselves as the budding journalists of future.

First prize went to Etisha Mittal (Forest Rhinos; I-year student). Second prize was bagged by Chhavi Sharma, a student of masters (Air Falcon) and third prize was received by Aakanksha Doundiyal of the second year (Water Sharks). Efforts of Pankaj and Rishabh (II Year), and Kavya (I Year) were also appreciated by the judges.

All the participants presented the news in a very impressive manner. Motivating the students, Mr. Manoj Raut gave all the students valuable tips to better their news sense and presentations. He said, “Each one of you is a winner as you are conquering your fear and inhibitions, and such exercises will give you a platform to improve further.”
