A Tryst with Romantic Poets (British Literature)

Department of English,Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities organized an activity ‘A Tryst with Romantic Poets (British Literature)’ recently. The participants tried to recreate British poets’ literary genius by reciting their poems. The activity aimed to inculcate genuine interest in the works of the British poets. Through this experiential learning, the participants were able to comprehend and appreciate the creative genius of the British poets particularly those belonging to the Romantic Age.

More than 20 students participated in the activity. Students dressed up like British poets, thereon, depicting the traditions and customs of that age which enhanced their knowledge. In all, seven teams prepared their exhibits related to the poets and their age. Each team consisted of four students and they emulated British Poets and recited their famous poems like,  ‘Ode to Nightingale’, ‘Kubla Khan’, ‘One Day I wrote her name’,  ‘Sun Rising’,  ‘Ode to West Wind’,  ‘Ode to Intimation of Immortality’, and ‘The Lamb’. This way, students took the audience into another world, the world of imagination, the world of poets and their poems.

Dr. Shivani Vashist, HOD, Department of English, FMeH appreciated the collective efforts of student coordinators and faculty members who made the event a success. She encouraged the students to overcome their hesitation and participate wholeheartedly in future events.
