5-day Orientation Programme for 14th BDS Batch

Manav Rachna Dental College (MRDC), Faculty of Dental Sciences (FDS), Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) has organized five-day Orientation Programme for the 14th batch of Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Padma Shri Prof. Mahesh Verma, VC- Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University was the Chief Guest for the day. The programme was also graced by Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, VC-MRIIRS; Dr. M.K. Soni, PVC-MRIIRS; Dr. R.K. Arora, Registrar, MRIIRS; Dr. Naresh Grover, Dean-Academics, MRIIRS; Dr. Arundeep Singh, Principal, MRDC; Dr. Ashim Aggarwal, Vice Principal, MRDC, and other senior dignitaries from MRIIRS & MRDC, and faculty members from MRDC.

Padma Shri Prof. Mahesh Verma addressed the students and elevated their ‘Josh’. He said, “Faculty at MRDC will embellish you and will give you a nicer presentation to face the world. You are entering the second phase of your life, so enter with a goal and start dreaming.” He added that Dentistry is your passport to conquer the world and is one of the best professions. He shared that communication is very important for a dentist and also shared the ABC for a dentist: A- Availability, B- Behaviour, C- Competence.

Dr. Sanjay Srivastava shared the principles of life with the students: KSA wherein K stands for Knowledge, S for Skill set, and A for Attitude. He asked students to start their journey at MRDC with humility and gratitude in the mind. He also shared the key takeaways for the next five years of their journey with MRDC- ‘Have a complete sense of purpose, competence and self-control’. He added that the skills you acquire during these five years will be the key differentiators of your life.

In his address to students, Dr. Arundeep Singh said, “Today is the first day of your college and you have to keep the ‘spark of the new’ to keep yourself shining always. He shared with students that MRDC is now under the ambit of MRIIRS, and offers BDS in nine specializations. He added that dentistry provides ample of opportunities for a successful career in various fields.” He parted with the words, “Be passionate about what you do.”

This was followed by the felicitation of Batch 2014 students who have excelled in academics. Meritorious students who have joined MRDC for Batch 2019 were donned with white coat by the dignitaries.

A special orientation programme was also organized for the parents wherein Dr. Dipali Bansal, Associate Dean- Academics, and Director IQAC gave them a holistic view of Manav Rachna. Dr. Ashim Aggarwal also addressed the parents introducing various aspects of MRDC including achievements, faculty members, anti-ragging policy, and other details. Dr. Naresh Grover informed parents about the process of assessment at Manav Rachna and how parents can stay connected with faculty members through ERP.

Parents interacted with the seniors and raised their queries about feedback mechanism, skills, job opportunities, and training, which were duly answered by the dignitaries.
