Compendium ‘Unwinding Creativity’ unveiled at Manav Rachna

Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities (FMeH), Manav Rachna International Institute of Research & Studies (MRIIRS) released a literary compendium “Unwinding Creativity” and also held an Inter University/Inter Campus poetry recitation competition “Expressing in Verse” in association with “Shadows on Paper” today.

Dean FMeH Prof. (Dr.) Neemo Dhar ,  welcomed the chief guest for the event,  Prof.(Dr.) Chandra Mohan, Gen Secretary, Comparative Literature Association of India and the Guest of Honor  Sh. Priyank Bharti, Director, Ministry of Road Transport and  Highways , Govt of India and Dr N.C. Wadhwa Vice Chancellor MRIIRS. Dr Neemo Dhar said, “The Compendium Unwinding Creativity is the creative endeavor of Department of English students and faculty members and also of other faculties of  MRIIRS.  More than 60 students and faculty members have contributed for the compendium. Dr. Shivani Vashist, Department of English, FMeH and Ms. Roma Ghosh, Dept. of Media Studies, FMEH have edited the compendium.”

More than 40 budding poets participated in the poetry recitation competition from different Universities. There were students participating from many colleges of Delhi University like Sri Aurobindo College, Ramlal Anand College, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Shahid Bhagat Singh College, and PGDAV among others. Participation was also seen from students of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Galgotias University, Agra University, Lingaya’s University, SGT, Jagannath Institute of Management, Gr. Noida and M.M.H College, Ghaziabad,  Sharda University and Students from different departments across Manav Rachna .

The Chief Guest Prof (Dr.) Chandra Mohan, said, “I congratulate the organizers for releasing the compendium which is a medium to ignite the imagination of students. This release should be one step towards including creative writing in the curriculum. Creativity when amalgamated will produce marvelous results,” he said while encouraging the students.

The objective of the poetry recitation competition “Expressing in Verse” was to encourage the students to write, to explore and to nurture their potential for writing.

The competition was open to all the undergraduate students. The entries were in Hindi, English, Urdu and Punjabi. The winners at the event were:

1st Prize Pooja Shah from Delhi University
2nd Prize Vidya Buhshan from Manav Rachna Dental College
3rd Megha from English Dept, MRIIRS
4th Shashank Pandey from SGT University
5th Abhishek Yadav from Indraprastha University
