13th Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge cup gets off to a grand start

Twenty six corporate teams from Delhi NCR are participating in the 13th edition of the Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge Cup 2020. The tournament was inaugurated toady by Sh. Yashpal Yadav (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad.

The first match of the tournament was played between Lawyers’ Sports Association and AajTak. The Lawyers Sports Association which won the toss and elected to field first won the match. Mr. Varun from the Lawyers Sports Association who played a key role in the victory of his team was declared the ‘Man of the Match’ for scoring 106 runs of 57 balls. The team of AajTak scored 195 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Lawyers Sports Association achieved the target in 19 overs; made 201 runs at the loss of 6 wickets.

While inaugurating the tournament, Sh. Yahspal Yadav said: “I have seen Manav Rachna grow over the years and have witnessed the unparalleled contribution the Institution has made to the region.This tournament is a means to bring sports closer to the youth of the nation”.

Mr. Vikrant Gupta, captain of the AajTak team complemented: “This tournament is like the World Cup for us. We eagerly wait and practice for this tournament for eightto nine months”.

Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI; Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI; Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI; Mr. Sarkar Talwar, Director, Sports, MREI; representatives of the 26 corporate teams and senior luminariesfrom MREI were present on the occasion.

Dr. Prashant Bhallashared that Manav Rachna Educational Institutions are committed to creating better human beings. The Cup, instituted in the memory of Founder Visionary Dr. O P Bhalla follows the belief that sports inculcate life-long skills, camaraderie and bonding among players. 26 leading Corporates from Delhi-NCR including Maruti Suzuki India, Gurugram; Honda Car India, Greater Noida; Escorts Construction & Equipment, Faridabad; National Highway Authority of India, Delhi; Tata Consultancy Services, Noida; JCB India, Ballabhgarh; Accenture, Gurugram; Knorr Bremse, Palwal; Dabur India, Ghaziabad; Meta Fab, Faridabad; AajTak, Delhi; IIFL-Wealth, Delhi; Asian Hospital, Faridabad; Sarvodaya Hospital, Faridabad; Hero Motocorp, Gurugram; Lawyers Sports Association (Supreme Court), Delhi; National Hydro Power Corporation, Faridabad; KPMG Global Services, Gurugram;Manav Rachna Educational Institutions, Faridabad; Honda Motorcycle, Gurugram; Fortis Hospital, Faridabad; ACE, Faridabad; Press Club of India, Delhi; Indian Oil (R & D), Faridabad; Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Delhi; and Adidas, Gurugram are participating in the Cup, this year.

The second match of the first day is being played between Asian Hospital and JCB.

55 matches will be played in the 13th Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge Cup 2020. The teams have been divided into six groups. During the first phase, league matches shall be played. These will be followed by knock-out matches. The top 4 teams in the knock-out matches will get a bike as an award. The final match of the tournament will be played on March 21, 2020.
