About Department of Mechanical Engineering
Professional opportunities are vast in numbers for a mechanical engineer in generation and distribution of energy, material processing, industrial automation and control of manufacturing systems, design and development of mechanisms and machines. Ever since its inception in 1997, Department of Mechanical Engineering has grown in stature over the years considering its performance and achievements. The B.Tech-Mechanical Engineering programme offered by the department has been accredited by NBA in 2004, 2007 and 2018. Mechanical Engineering being very versatile branch remains the most preferred programme for admission seekers. The department boasts of highly qualified faculty members who are actively involved in research and innovation. A large number of research papers have been published by faculty members in reputed journals. The department has various labs on Thermal Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Fluid Machines and Turbo Machinery, Applied Mechanics, Strength of Material, Metrology etc. Mechanical Engineering Department is a continuously evolving department always having something new to offer. Recently the department procured 50 CREO software licenses which are installed in CAD lab. Also the labs are upgraded with the addition of major equipment like Fatigue test rig, Torsion Test rig, HMT Precision Lathe, Cylindrical grinding machine, Tool maker’s microscope, Gear Roller tester (Parkinson’s type), Autocollimeter, Coriollo’s Component equipment, Epicyclic Gear train, Balancing of Reciprocating Masses along with already existing state of the art equipment.
The Institute of Indian Foundrymen (IIF) and Mechanical Engineering Department from Manav Rachna International Institute of Research (MRIIRS) have joined hands to establish the Faridabad Chapter of IIF Northern Region at the Manav Rachna campus. TheDepartment of Mechanical engineering also attended the Exhibition IFEX-2019 (IIF) on 18th January 2019, at India Expo Mart, greater Noida, UP
Mechanical Engineering Department from Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies is responsible for organizing many events in Collaboration with ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air conditioning Engineers) such as job junction, expert lectures, technical quiz etc. ISHRAE had organized an International & National level Exhibition for HVAC (ACREX 17) in Greater Noida from 23rd to 25th February 2017 where the students of Mechanical Engineering were involved in organizing the event.
A MoU has also been signed with Orient Electric Ltd, Faridabad to carry out consultancy projects. Expert faculties from the department are currently working on projects of Orient Electric Ltd. The department offers following programmes at Graduate/ Post Graduate level apart from Ph.D degree.
Department of Mechanical Engineering, FET, MRIIRS organized a National Symposium on Integration of Research Academia and Industrial Practices towards Manufacturing Excellence on February 25, 2020. The National Symposium was graced by the presence of renowned academicians like Prof. (Dr.) I K Bhat, Vice Chancellor, MRU; Prof. (Dr.) Pulak Mohan Pandey – IIT Delhi; Prof. (Dr.) Sachin Maheshwari – NSUT Delhi; Mr. Abhijeet Mitra – Design Head – M/s Koyo Springs Ltd. Haryana; Prof. (Dr.) Naresh Grover, Dean Academics – MRIIRS; Prof. (Dr.) Geeta Nijhawan, Associate Dean – FET MRIIRS; Prof. (Dr.) Manu Srivastava, MRIIRS; and Prof. (Dr.) Sujata Nayak, MRU along with faculty members and students.
Industrial visit Industrial visit to M/s Century Crane Engineers Pvt. Ltd. 2020
An industrial visit was organized to M/s Century Crane Engineers Pvt Ltd for 1st, 3rd & 05th semester Mechanical Engineering students recently.
Relationship Director Ms. Deepty Sharma, Mr. Vasanth Shetty – AVP Marketing, Mr. Satyam & his team of the plant briefed the students about the company’s safety norms, suppliers, customers, standards, inspection techniques, various manufacturing processes that took place at the plant. All the students and faculties were given safety instructions.
Industrial visit to National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) 2020
An industrial visit was organized to National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), Neemka (Faridabad) for 1st semester Mechanical Engineering students with faculty members Mr. Rajnish Saxena and Mr. Shashi Kant.
NSIC faculties briefed about the various production processes, cutting tools and machine tools, material testing and various types of CNC machines. Students visited the various workshops and labs equipped with a wide range of machines and another engineering. All the students and faculties were given safety instructions.
A-Quest, a national level technical Quiz Competition of Heating, Ventilation; Air Conditioning (HVAC) is organized by ISHRAE & sponsored by Hitachi everyyear. It is with immense pleasure to inform you that Mechanical Department, MRIIRS hosts the North Zonal Quarter Final Round of the same. This year (Consecutively for the 4th year) also the same program has been hosted by MRIIRS on 18.01.19 in A-Block Auditorium.The program was well represented by top Industry Executives from HVAC sector& amp was graced by presence of Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. M.K.Soni.
MHRD Innovation Cell has organized a series of “India First Leadership Talk Series” and the first session was conducted with Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman Mahindra Group. The even started live on Facebook at 14:00 hrs on the 08th day of January 2019 and concluded at 15:00 hrs. This one hour of session was very informative and interactive for the faculty members and students. Both enjoyed participating the same and collected constructive inputs from a progressive personality. Mr. Mahindra too shared his valuable thoughts and experience and student with faculty members were enlightened.
MHRD Innovation Cell has organized a workshop on “IPR for students & faculty members” and the workshop was conducted by Ms. Shwetasree Majumder, Principal Fidus Law Chamber. The event started live on Facebook at 13:30 hrs on the 10th day of January 2019 and concluded at 15:30 hrs. This two hour of session was very informative and interactive for the faculty members and students. Both enjoyed participating the same and collected constructive inputs from a progressive personality. Ms. Shwetasree Majumder shared her valuable thoughts and experience and student with faculty members were enlightened
IIF Installation 2018
The Institute of Indian Foundrymen (IIF) and the Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) have joined hands to establish the Faridabad Chapter of IIF Northern Region at the Manav Rachna campus. The Faridabad Chapter of IIF was declared open by Industries Minister Mr. Vipul Goel in the presence of Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI); Mr Shashi Kumar Jain, President, IIF; Mr. Vinit Jain, Secretary, IIF; Dr Dewan D Chopra, Treasurer, IIF; Dr N C Wadhwa, VC, MRIIRS; Dr Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI and other senior industry members from IIF. This is the first local chapter of IIF in the state of Haryana.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET), Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) in association with IEEE and DRDO organized an International Conference on ‘Quality, Reliability, Optimization, and Modeling’ from 5-7 January, 2017, themed on ‘Journey Towards Excellence-Make in India’. Around 100 research scholars presented their papers at the conference.
German Energy Transition Exhibition
Indo-German Energy FORUM (IGEF) has brought a Touring Exhibition “Deutschland’s Energiewende” (Energy Transition in Germany) to India. The exhibition has been put together by the German Federal Foreign Office and GIZ India at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) Campus from 22nd January to 3rd February 2018. The exhibition highlights the importance of energy efficiency and renewable energy for the future.
Department of Mechanical Engineering organized “Job Junction” of Northern India Zone in the MRIIRS campus. In the “Job Junction” students of all the colleges / universities of Northern India having ISHRAE membership are invited for appearing in selection for different companies. This event has become an yearly event in MRIIRS for providing jobs to our final year mechanical students. Many students were selected by different companies like TATA steels, Blue star, Voltas, Daikin, Hi-Tech, CarigaireRestiflex, Sterling and Wilson, Kiroloskar, Indigo, Ruskin Titus etc. The salary package varied between 3 lacs to 6 lacs per annum depending on the company.
Our past students have been absorbed in Industry giant like Maruti, TATA, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Accenture and a number of other organizations.
