Professional opportunities for a mechanical engineer in the fourth generation of Industry 4 .0 in the field of robotics and industrial automation, additive manufacturing, digital manufacturing, distribution of energy, material processing, control of manufacturing systems, design & development of mechanisms & machines etc. Ever since its inception in 1997, Department of Mechanical Engineering has grown in stature over the years considering its performance and achievements.
The B. Tech- Mechanical Engineering program offered by the department has been accredited by NBA in 2004, 2007 and 2018. Mechanical Engineering being very versatile branch remains the most preferred programme for admission seekers. The department is privileged to be a centre of highly qualified faculty members who are actively involved in research and innovation. A large number of publications in the form of books, research articles patents and projects are undertaken by faculty members of the department. The department has various labs on Thermal Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Fluid Mechanics, Fluid Machines and Turbo Machinery, Applied Mechanics, Strength of Material, Metrology etc. It is one of the only education centre which has all 8 working shops in the Central Workshop facility. A fully equipped design centre with all basic as well as advanced software including AutoCAD, CATIA, CREO, ALTAIR, MATLAB, etc. is available in the department. Also, the labs are regularly upgraded with the addition of major equipment like fatigue test rig, torsion test rig, HMT precision lathe, cylindrical grinding machine, tool maker’s microscope, gear roller tester (Parkinson’s type), auto collimeter, Coriollos component equipment, epicyclic gear train, balancing of reciprocating masses.
Mechanical Engineering Department of Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies is responsible for organizing many events in Collaboration with IEI (India) (Institution of Engineers), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), Quality Council of India (QCI), Indian Institute of Foundry (IIF), Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE). A lot of events such as job junction, expert lectures/webinar, technical quiz, conclaves, symposium etc. are being organized from time to time. We are also in the process of signing MOU between MRIIRS & various professional bodies of repute apart from many currently existing ones. Also, development of centers of excellence by the dep a r tment in collaboration with the Industry partners at MRIIRS Campus is already in progress.
MoUs have also been signed with various industries and government agencies to carry out consultancy projects. The department offers following programs at graduate, post graduate and doctoral level apart from PhD degree.
It is the primary focus of the Department of Mechanical Engineering to ensure that almost 100 percent placement target is achieved every year. A number of endeavors are successfully undertaken in this direction. Our students have been selected by industry giants like Tata Steel, Krishna Maruti, JBM, Sonalika, Blue Star, Carrier, Indigo, TCS, Stryker and a number of other industries of repute during various placement drives at campus. The highest package offered was around 12 lpa during last year. The department offers career counseling and gate classes for students to enroll in higher education.
The department also organizes Job Junction of North India Zone at the MRIIRS campus every year where students of all the colleges/ universities of Northern India having ISHRAE membership are invited for appearing in selection process for different companies. Many students were selected by different companies like Blue star, Voltas, Daikin, Hi-Tech, Caryaire, Resistoflex, Sterling and Wilson, Kirloskar, Ruskin Titus etc. The salary package varied between 3 lacs to 6 lacs per annum depending on the company. Apart from this, the professional tie-ups with various prestigious Engineering bodies also benefit the departmental students in securing high end job opportunities.
