The department of Civil Engineering was established in the year July’2009 and now it has built an excellence reputation. The department is rich in faculty position with highly qualified experienced teachers capable of teaching any subject. Labs are also well equipped. Apart from regular course, curriculum activities, research work is also being under taken in our labs. For better awareness and interest of a student, continuous interaction with reputed companies are being organized at frequent interval in the form of special technical lecture/workshop/site visit or exchange of technical knowledge etc.

Q.What is the future of Civil Engineering?

Civil Engineers have a vast scope for employment in Central Government, State Government, public private organizations e.g Indian Engineering Services, Civil Services, Indian Army, Indian Railways, Border Road Organizations, CPWD, PWD, PHED, Irrigation Deptt, PT, NHAI, AAI, NHPC, ONGC, GAIL, SAIL, EIL, BHEL, NTPC, Central Water Commission, Pollution Control Board, CSIR, Forest Deptt., Banks, and consultancy services etc.

Civil Engineers are responsible for planning, designing, executing, operating and maintaining of all major infrastructures. After completion of Degree, he/she can also go for research, teaching and consultancy. Presently Civil Engineering skills are highly needed across the globe for construction of tall, unique and complicated structure. Therefore, with the emphasis on development of infrastructure, there is a bright future ahead for Civil Engineers for atleast next few decades.

Q.How Civil Engineering program is useful in field?

The duty of a Civil Engineer involves planning, designing, executing, operating and maintaining various constructions like airport, dock harbor, dams, tunnels, buildings, roads, railways, bullet train project, rapid metro project, monorail project, metro rail projects, flood control structures, river training works, water wastewater treatment plants, solid waste management, canal, transmission towers, slope protection, ground improvement etc. Civil Engineering touches almost every sphere of life and is vital for progress and development of any nation. All the above mentioned aspects are taught in details during the course of study.

Q.What is the status of Civil Engineering Department?

The department of Civil Engineering was established in the year July’2009 and it has built an excellent reputation. The department is rich in faculty position with highly qualified experienced teachers. Labs are well equipped with latest equipments such as Horizontal and vertical shake table, Universal Testing machine with 100 kN capacity with 09 channels to measure displacements with computer interface, rebar locater, UPV, Rebound Hammer, Vibration Analyser, Accelerometer, Core cutter etc. Apart from regular course, curriculum activities, research works are also being under taken in the department. Our syllabus is regularly reviewed and modified according to the needs of industry by the Board of Studies. The members of Board of Studies include experts from IIT, NIT, DTU, JMI, industry etc and senior faculty members of MRIIRS. Department also continuously interacts with reputed industries, government departments and organizes field visits, special technical lectures, workshops, seminars for exchange of technical knowledge.

Q.What is the status of placement in Civil Engineering Department?

Students from all pass-out batches have got 100% campus placement. They are presently working with many reputed companies such as Nagarjun Construction Company Ltd, Shri Gautam Const. Company Ltd., Sai Chetna Const. Pvt .Ltd, KLI Project Ltd., Unihorn India Pvt Ltd, KMC Construction, Theme India Services Pvt. Ltd, Sushee Infra Pvt Ltd., L T, TCS, Bloom Berg, Indian Army, DLF, Unitech, OMAXE, JAYPEE Cement, GR Infra Projects Ltd., PNC Infratech Ltd., TOP Surveying India Private Limited,  SGS Technomech, Palin Technologies. Recently PNB Housing Finance has recruited students from 2012-2016 batch Apart from the above many more companies are in touch with the department for urgent recruitment of students.

Q.What is the status of faculty positions in the department?

Department is having sufficient number of faculty members as per norms of UGC/AICTE mostly derived from academia and industry. They have graduated from IIT, NIT and reputed Central State Universities. Many faculty members are PhD and besides so many are also pursuing PhD programme.

Q.Whether sufficient reference books are available in Library?

The Central Library is an invaluable resource for students, researchers & faculty members of Civil Engineering Department. The library has collection of more than 5000 books along with various journals & other related materials like CDs DVDs, on-line journals such as ASCE etc. Apart from central library department has its own library with about 1000 reference books.

Civil Engineers have a vast scope for employment in all major construction projects carried out by the Central Government, State Government, Indian railways, private construction companies, Army, Indian Engineering Services, Consultancy Services etc. After completion of B.Tech, he can also look either for research works or teaching profession or he can open his own independent consultancy services. Present day Civil Engineer’s skills is highly needed throughout the world like in Middle East, Africa, Asia for construction of tall, unique and complicated structure and thus there is a bright future ahead for next few decades.

The civil engineers play a major role for works like roads, bridges, tunnels, buildings, airports, dams, water works, sewage systems, water supply system etc which are essential for rapid growth of any country.

Q.Is there any scope to do M.Tech & Ph.D in Civil Engineering Department?

Yes, We offer Ph.D Programme in various specialization in Civil Engineering and M.Tech in three specializations Viz:

  • Structural Engineering
  • Transportation Engineering and
  • Construction Management.
  • The M.Tech programme shall be of two years duration.

Q.What is the scope of placement for Civil Engineering students?

The job prospects for Civil Engineers in present day environment are perhaps the best . Currently huge demand supply gap exists for Civil Engineers in the market. Q.What is the status of placement of present batch?

B.Tech 2009-12 batch students got 100% campus placement. Also all the students of 2010-14 batch who have no supplementary has been placed successfully in various reputed core companies with very handsome packages.

Q.Whether sufficient reference books are available in Library?

The Manav Rachna Library is an invaluable resource for students, researchers faculties of Civil Engineering. The library has a good collection of books, journals other related materials in the field of Civil Engineering. In addition we also have a number of e-resources in form of CD’s DVD’s subscription to on-line journals.
