Spot Highlights

The Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2002 under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS, NAAC Accredited 'A++'' Grade Institution), a Deemed-to-be-University under Section 3 of the UGC Act (1956).

The aim of the Department of Biotechnology is to dream up the students as competent Biotechnologists who can employ premium processes and applications which will profoundly influence the existing paradigm of agriculture, industry, healthcare and restoration of the environment, providing a sustainable competitive edge to present society.

The Department of Biotechnology offers both B.tech and M.tech courses in Biotechnology. We also offer B.Sc and M.Sc Microbiology courses. The doctoral program of the Department offers Ph.D degrees in various fields of Biotechnology and Life Sciences.

The department possesses an international collaboration with the University of Nottingham, England. Students will be awarded degrees in B.Tech Biotechnology from MRIIRS,Faridabad and B.Sc. Hons Biotechnology from Nottingham.

Students pursuing M.Sc. from MRIIRS will be awarded MSc Biotechnology (Plant, Animal, Microbial pathways), MSc Food Production Management from University of Nottingham. Students will experience an International competitive environment and will possess the combined degree.

The Department has highly qualified teaching faculty with Doctoral and M.Tech qualifications in different areas of Biotechnology. Faculty members are consistently involved in quality research. Their dedicated efforts have resulted in more than 400 publications in National and International journals of high repute.

Huge funds are being mobilized in different areas of biotechnology such as biopharma, agri-biotechnology, diagnostics, horticulture, food science and initiatives by Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and Department of Science & Technology (DST).

The Department has a wide range of laboratories with high end equipments i.e. Cell Biology Lab, Microbiology Lab, Fermentation Technology Lab, Molecular Biology Lab, Environment Biotechnology Lab and Bioinformatics Lab.
