An ardent leader and eminent personality in the education sector, Prof. Harish C. Rai is Dean- Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies. He has a rich experience of about 40 years in the field of Technical Education, and was the Former Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Galgotias University and was also heading examination works of the university.

Prof. Rai has held many portfolios in the tenure of 40 years in the field. He was Controller of Examination (COE) of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, also held the additional charge of Director, Academic Affairs and Director, Research & Project Monitoring Cell of the University. While being COE, during 2006–2009, Prof. Rai joined on deputation at All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi as Advisor-1. He held faculty positions in premier institutions such as Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia (Central University), New Delhi; Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, C.R. State College of Engineering (presently Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology), Murthal; and Director, AICTE, New Delhi.

Prof. Rai received his education in Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi, and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from IIT, Delhi, in 1991. His subject areas of interest include Electrical Machines, Control Engineering, Power Electronics and Power Systems, etc. He has contributed a number of papers in National and International Journals of repute and also authored 17 books meant for degree in Engineering or equivalent.

He is a recipient of Spardha Shree Award 1999 for his Meritorious Services in Education, and was awarded Dr. S. Radha Krishnan National Teacher’s Memorial Award 1997. He was also a recipient of first prize from MHRD-AICTE for writing a Technical Book in Hindi on Industrial and Power Electronics. He was awarded Teacher’s Excellence Award–2000 for valuable services rendered to the cause of Education in the Country.


Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) enjoys unparalleled reputation amongst all stakeholders i.e. its students and their parents, employers and the community at large and is a part of Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (Formerly MRIU- a NAAC ‘A’ Grade and QS star rated institution). National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has accredited four programmes of FET: B.Tech- Computer Science and Engg.; B.Tech- Biotechnology; B.Tech- Electronics and Communication Engineering; and B.Tech Mechanical Engineering. The Faculty has a very strong track record of on-campus placements with national and international companies and is backed by excellent infrastructure including labs and workshops equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and latest computing facilities. A strong Academia-Industry Interface development is a matter of policy in all disciplines. Industrial Training has been embedded in the curricula for all the programmes and the course work is supplemented by industrial visits, educational tours and invited lectures from eminent persons from academics and experts from industries. The Faculty has developed its own competency and skill based curricula in consultation with the Industry leaders in various areas and is evolving continuously to take care of expanding technologies. The diversified course options offered at FET are aimed at imparting Quality Education to enable our students to become global citizens and thought leaders of the future.
