Department of Applied Science is dedicated to excellence in teaching and research. We prepare students for meeting technological challenges faced by the ever changing world. The department has seventeen experienced and highly qualified faculty members. Faculty members are enthusiastically engaged in cutting-edge research in emerging areas. Faculty members have contributed more than 500 publications in reputed national/ international journals/conferences.
Department supports B.Tech. & M.Tech programmes of MRIIRS and offers Ph.D. programme in Chemistry, physics and Mathematics. Chemistry, physics and Mathematics are foundation courses to provide background to the students so that they are able to understand the engineering subjects. We aspire to produce highly sought after B.Tech graduates for pursuing careers with academia &industry. Emphasis is given on hands-on experience of modern experiments of and excellent preparation of students for a broad range of careers. The doctoral students are mentored in diverse areas of chemical sciences. The aim of the Ph.D. programme is to provide quality education and the state-of the art skills to students through effective learning and research. Every year, the department organizes conferences, expert talks, workshops and competitions on varied topics of academic relevance Mathematics offers an opportunity to understand the charm of digits and equations.. The department teaches various topics in mathematics to undergraduate and postgraduate students of different engineering departments.
Lab is the central and integral part of the department. The laboratory is the place where B. Tech. students perform experiments and learn to practice the activities of scientists – asking questions, performing experiments, collecting data, analyzing data, answering questions and thinking of new questions to explore. Department is actively involved in giving students a hands on experience of different instruments and techniques essential for their engineering requirement. Physics and Chemistry labs are well equipped with the valuable experiments like Four probe method setup, Hall effect setup, Resonance phenomena in LCR circuits, Magnetic field from Helmholtz coil, Hysteresis loss and magnetic susceptibility by tracing B-H curve, Planck’s constant by a photo cell setup, Ultrasonic experiment setup, PIN diode, Modulus of Rigidity of a wire by Maxwell’s Needle, Conductometer, pH Meter, Pensky Marten Apparatus, Redwood Viscometer, Spectrophotometer and different kind of titrations etc.
