HR ROUND Table 2023

From the Great Resignation to the Great Layoff: Antidote for Survival

Contemporary businesses face many major challenges: supply chain disruptions, inflationary pressures, geo-political tensions and unpredictable climate patterns.  Lately they have encountered an additional global threat – The Great Resignation.  In the United States alone, which has a workforce of approximately 160 million, about 4 million people have been quitting their job each month, the highest quit rate on record.  This malaise has spread to Europe and Asia, and India too has not been spared.  In this maelstrom, fundamental disruptions seem to be taking place in many facets of the World of Work impacting Work, Worker and Workplace.

It has thus become a critical business imperative for organizations to delve into, and find a solution for, this problem.  The School of Leadership and Management (SLM), Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies is organizing the second edition of the HR Round Table, a vibrant platform and mega event which brings together eminent HR and business leaders. This Round Table will enable industry professionals to understand the phenomenon of The Great Resignation in depth and to explore possible solutions. The event unfolds with a keynote address by a Business Leader, followed by four inter-related panel discussions which bring together multi-industry and multi-disciplinary perspectives to explore the reasons and possible solutions to the challenges identified.

  • Employee Priorities Re-mapped: With the demographic shifts occurring in the workforce with respect to age, gender etc., changing mindsets and the impact of technology, reinforced by the forced changes necessitated by the Covid pandemic, is there a need to re-assess and re-map employee priorities with their consequential impact on the organization?
  • Re-imagining Work Design: Consequent to the changed employee priorities and other factors of supply and demand in the world of work, what are the work design changes that will enhance engagement, passion, productivity, innovation, recruitment and retention?  Could the answer lie in what appears to be a deceptively simple solution – design work that people love?
  • On-line Off-line Balance Decoded: Working from home has ushered in a new era for us. Its now been a while since we have been doing it. Have we been able to decode the optimal online-offline balance for employees?  What happens in industries which necessarily have to have many functions offline?
  • Democratizing Digital Transformation: As companies grapple with accelerated digital transformations, how do they tap into the full potential of technology and people?  What do companies need to do to equip their people with the tools required to build their own digital capabilities, so that technology can be deployed at scale across a huge, distributed spectrum of applications?

The upcoming HR Round Table on April 15, 2023 promises to explore, discover and throw light on these issues with deeper insights and innovative solutions drawing on best and next-practices of cutting-edge organizations
