Meena Kapahi is currently working as Associate Professor in the Chemistry Department, Manav Rachna University, Faridabad. She holds an M.Tech. in Environmental Sciences and Engg. and is pursuing PhD in the area of bioremediation from MRIIRS, Faridabad. She has almost 14 years of teaching & approx.one yearindustry experience.She started her academic career in Feb 2005 at Manav Rachna College of Engg. (now MRU). She has published papers in journals of national and international repute. She is the coordinator of International Activities Committee (IAC) and is responsible for planning and executing International Students’ Internships and cultural visits at the university. Being the coordinator of Accreditations team, she has successfully submitted applications like QS I Gauge where the university has been awarded an overall Gold rating.
She has developed courses like Environment and Sustainable Development with emphasis on areas like SDGs and Corporate Sustainability Strategy and Sustainability reporting. She attended International Summer School 2017 (29 May – 9 June, 2017), Lahti University of Applied Sciences (LUAS), Finland, as the visiting lecturer.
She is the life member of professional societies like Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE); Mushroom Society of India (MSI); Green Chemistry Network Centre (GCNC) and the Commission member of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) – CEC Higher Education, Knowledge Management and Capacity Development, NatureForAll, CEPA, Social and Behaviour Change Communications (2017-2020). She has been themember of Technical Review Group forIUCN World Conservation Congress 2016(Hawaii) and Smart Cities in Smart Regions International Conference 2016 (LAMK, Finland). She is associated with many organizations engaged in social and environmental issues like blood donation, cancer awareness, menstrual hygiene, education of poor children. Her current students’ projects include Menstrual Hygiene Management and food adulteration. She has also filed a patent in the area of sanitary waste management – dustbins for the disposal of sanitary waste and sanitary napkins. She has also filed a design patent for composting bin.
She has mentored students for national and international championships (British Climate Champ), MIT Climate Co Lab Challenge, New Zealand-India Sustainability Challenge and conferences (G-STIC, Belgium) where the students have brought laurels for the university. Having a keen interest in Oyster mushroom cultivation and gardening, she has organized oyster mushroom cultivation workshops for the corporates/academicians/students.
